Suspension of USAID program

Share

In accordance with the United States President’s Executive Order “Reevaluating and Realigning United States Foreign Aid”, NACOSA has suspended implementation of all its programming funded by the United States government for 90 days. NACOSA provides HIV and Gender Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response services in communities across South Africa with funding from PEPFAR and USAID.

NACOSA remains hopeful that the recently issued United States Secretary of State’s waiver for ‘life-saving humanitarian assistance’ will cover the essential, life-saving HIV and GBV prevention and response services that we and our partner organisations provide. Until we have specific guidance on this, we are working with partners in government, business and civil society to navigate this process and are pursuing all avenues available to ensure continuity of services and support for staff.
