Dr Pren Naidoo
Chairperson
Dr Pren Naidoo, MBChB, MBA, PhD, is a Public Health Management Consultant with deep experience of HIV/AIDS and TB Programmes. She previously managed the City of Cape Town TB and HIV programmes and established Multisectoral Action Teams.Â
Dr Pren Naidoo, MBChB, MBA, PhD, is a Public Health Management Consultant with deep experience of HIV/AIDS and TB Programmes. She previously managed the City of Cape Town TB and HIV programmes and established Multisectoral Action Teams, led Health Systems and Operational Research at the Desmond Tutu TB Centre and was the principal investigator on a study assessing the impact of molecular diagnostic tools for TB. She has worked as a consult nt with various national organisations and has supported the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s TB Delivery Strategy in South Africa since 2016. She has served on the NACOSA Board since 2009, was an advisory committee member of the Children’s HIV/AIDS Network (CHAIN) and is a member of the National TB Strategic Think Tank.
Sibongile Tshabalala
Director
Sibongile Tshabalala is National Chairperson of the Treatment Action Campaign, a well-known community activist and representative of the people living with HIV sector. Sibongile worked for the Treatment Action Campaign for many years.
Sibongile Tshabalala is National Chairperson of the Treatment Action Campaign, a well-known community activist and representative of the people living with HIV sector. Sibongile worked for the Treatment Action Campaign for many years and as a Community Liaison Officer at Right to Care. She is the General Secretary of the five national organizations of People Living with HIV and is also living openly with HIV. Sibongile serves at the Global Fund Country Coordinating Mechanism representing People Living with HIV, is a board member of the Rural Health Advocacy Project and an honorary fellow at the Steve Biko Centre for Bioethics.
Isaac Hartnick
Treasurer
Isaac Hartnick, CIMA Dip MA, is the Finance and Admin Manager at International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) South Africa and brings over 20 years’ finance, HR, IT strategy and administration management experience and expertise.
Isaac Hartnick, CIMA Dip MA, is the Finance and Admin Manager at International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) South Africa and brings over 20 years’ finance, HR, IT strategy and administration management experience and expertise. Isaac previously worked as Operations Manager at TEKANO, where he was involved in setting up the financial architecture of the organisation, and has worked for other NGOs such as Hand in Hand Southern Africa and the South African Red Cross Society. He has both non-profit and corporate experience in South and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Reverend David Galetta
Director
Reverend David Galetta is an Ordained Minister active within the HIV, AIDS and TB sector for 25 years. He holds a post graduate diploma in International Research Ethics and serves on local and international community advisory boards of research institutions conducting clinical trials.
Reverend David Galetta is an Ordained Minister active within the HIV, AIDS and TB sector for 25 years. He holds a post graduate diploma in International Research Ethics and serves on local and international community advisory boards of research institutions conducting clinical trials. He is a recipient of two awards from the HIV Vaccine Trials Network for leadership. His involvement with NACOSA started in 2004 as a Community Advisory Committee member. He was later elected as a board director because of his local and international community engagement work.
Seehaam Samaai
Director
Seehaam Samaai, LLM, is the Director of the Women’s Legal Centre and has 22 years’ experience in constitutional law. Seehaam served and continues to serve on various national, provincial and community structures providing strategic leadership, legal, programmatic and organisational support.

Seehaam served and continues to serve on various national, provincial and community structures providing strategic leadership, legal, programmatic and organisational support. Before joining the Women’s Legal Centre, Seehaam was the Director, Legal Administration at the Western Cape Regional Office of the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, a practicing attorney and Director of the University of the Western Cape Legal Aid Clinic. She is a member of the SA Women’s Lawyers Association and National Association for Democratic Lawyers.
Mohamed Motala
Executive Director
Mohamed Motala joined NACOSA in 2021. He is an organisational, governance and development professional, having served in executive and non-executive director positions in the public, private and non-profit sectors.
Mohamed Motala joined NACOSA in 2021. He is an organisational, governance and development professional, having served in executive and non-executive director positions in the public, private and non-profit sectors. Mohamed holds a BA Honours degree in Geography and a Masters in Town and Regional Planning. He is passionate about addressing poverty and inequality as well as the extent to which political, social and economic conditions determine the health of poorer communities. NACOSA gains from his leadership experience in the development sector where he has led diverse teams that comprised university professors, social movement leaders and community activists.

Dr Nadine Sha
Head of Human Resources
Dr Nadine Sha is a Qualified Industrial Psychologist registered with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa and an HR professional with 8 years’ paralegal and 20 years’ HR Strategic and Generalist experience in both local and international organisations.
Dr Nadine Sha is a Qualified Industrial Psychologist registered with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa and an HR professional with 8 years’ paralegal and 20 years’ HR Strategic and Generalist experience in both local and international organisations. Dr Sha holds a Doctorate in Philosophy and Industrial Psychology and has experience of the entire HR portfolio including strategy, industrial relations, talent management, organisational development, transformation and DEI, and facilitating workshops. Her passion is to empower people and the development of middle managers.
Marieta De Vos
Programme Director
Marieta De Vos joined NACOSA in 2010. Marieta holds an MPhil in HIV and AIDS Management and has over 25 years’ experience in programme and grant management, training and policy development. Before joining NACOSA, she was the Executive Director of MOSAIC Training.

Marieta has a special interest in linking sexual reproductive health and rights and HIV and AIDS programmes.
Derek Gagiano
Acting Finance Director
Derek Gagiano is a qualified Professional Accountant and joined NACOSA in 2014 after working as a finance manager at Multinet Technologies. Before this, he completed his SAICA (South African Institute of Chartered Accountants) and SAIPA articles while working as an audit and accounting manager at De Jager Boshoff Chartered Accountants.

Derek provides financial oversight and system strengthening across NACOSA’s finance function.

Clive Maluleka has over 13 years’ experience in business development and stakeholder management within the NPO sector, having worked for organisations such as the Nelson Mandela Foundation and Green Development Foundation.

Monene Mamabolo
Deputy Chief of Party: Community Based Violence Prevention and Response
Monene Mamabolo started her career as an organisational development practitioner and holds a post graduate degree in Social Science. Monene has a wealth of experience in programme management and the HIV field.

Before joining NACOSA in 2021, Monene spent 12 years as the Chief Executive Officer for Agri-Aid SA managing USAID, DfID and other grants implementing innovative health and wellness responses within the agriculture sector. As Chief of Party at Humana People to People SA, she managed HIV and AIDS key and vulnerable populations programmes.
Caroline Newbert
Global Fund Grant Manager
Caroline Newbert holds a Bachelor Degree in Social Science and a Masters in Public Health and has extensive experience as a public health consultant and researcher for public, private and civil society clients.
Caroline Newbert holds a Bachelor Degree in Social Science and a Masters in Public Health and has extensive experience as a public health consultant and researcher for public, private and civil society clients including First National Bank, Coronation Fund Managers, the European Union, the Department of Social Development, Marie Stopes South Africa, FHI 360 and the Desmond Tutu TB Centre. Caroline has lectured and published papers on the community HIV, AIDS and TB response and children and youth. Using her public health and social work experience, Caroline has dedicated 20 years to strengthening the South African HIV, AIDS and TB response.
Mariette Williams
Head of Learning
Mariette Williams has an Honours in Social Development and a Post Graduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation. She started her career as a social worker and then entered the health sector with a project piloting community-based TB treatment.

She started her career as a social worker and then entered the health sector with a project piloting community-based TB treatment. Mariette first joined NACOSA in 2002 working in Capacity Building, Training and Mentoring, leaving to join the Sustainability Institute where she researched the capacity needs of small community based organisations. Mariette spent eight years as Programmes Director at the Craft and Design Institute before returning to NACOSA in 2018.

Cezzanne is dedicated to developing robust systems, policies and strategies to optimise performance and secure improved health and social outcomes for vulnerable populations.
Colleen Herman
Catalytic Grant Manager
Colleen Herman started her career as a Registered Nurse and Midwife and holds a Masters in Nursing. She has worked in various fields of nursing including paediatric, occupational health, HIV and clinical trials.
Colleen Herman started her career as a Registered Nurse and Midwife and holds a Masters in Nursing. She has worked in various fields of nursing including paediatric, occupational health, HIV and clinical trials. Colleen joined NACOSA after working for the International Partnership for Microbicides (IPM) setting up research sites in South and East Africa on the Davipirine microbicide programme. This was preceded by her work at the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation on an adolescent-focused intervention and research project called Zimele. Her passion is working on programmes for adolescent health and wellbeing.

Bulelwa Mshumpela is a Ford Foundation Social Justice Fellow with a Masters in International Development and over 20 years’ experience in leading, managing and implementation of social and gender justice programs.
Bulelwa Mshumpela is a Ford Foundation Social Justice Fellow with a Masters in International Development and over 20 years’ experience in leading, managing and implementation of social and gender justice programs. Bulelwa has experience in managing donor driven programs, working with local partners in areas of advancing gender justice, human rights and community driven development as well as expertise in social process facilitation and building collaborative networks.

Sophie Hobbs holds an honours degree in Dramatic Art and a diploma in journalism and has over 20 years’ experience in strategic communications, marketing, fundraising and business development in South Africa and the United Kingdom.

Before joining NACOSA, Sophie headed up consulting services for GreaterCapital, providing strategic communications services tailored to the needs of non profits and social businesses and provided advice to corporate, non profit and development agency clients with a focus on the use of communications to create change in health and social development.
