Terms of Reference
For NACOSA CBO Network Members
- Representatives of member organisations have the responsibility to inform their directors and members of the board that the organisation is a member of NACOSA CBO Network and of the responsibilities membership entails.
- Network Ambassadors: Members shall represent their organisations in networks meetings, events and activities.
- Information sharing: Members are expected to share updates, expertise and resources from their organisations.
- Collaborate with other CBOs on joint activities, discussion fora and initiatives.
- Members have the responsibility to participate in network decision-making processes and provide feedback on strategies and initiatives.
- Members shall share information and resources developed around legislation and policies relating to HIV, AIDS, TB, STIs, GBVF and other information relating to key and vulnerable populations with other CBO network members.
- Where a member organisation believes that a particular advocacy or other action needs to be taken, that CBO member organisation will take responsibility for initiating and leading such action, and may put out a call through the CBO Network Manager/platform for other members to join.
- Members shall contribute to the establishment of working groups required for specific work tasks and agree to fully participate in the working groups.
- Members shall share the responsibility of carrying out CBO network activities with diligence, and within agreed-upon timeframes.
- It is the responsibility of members to share with the CBO Network Manager any changes to their contact details.
- Where possible, submissions, media and other official statements and documents on behalf of the CBO Network will be circulated to all member organisations beforehand for comment.
- When members collaborate under the banner of NACOSA CBO Network to produce materials, reports, tools and other products, these remain the collective property.
- Members will be given deadlines for comments and endorsements. This can happen at very short notice. Non-response by members is taken as consent. All submissions and statements will be undersigned by all members unless members object individually.
- If a disagreement arises, members agree to explore all avenues to reach consensus by listening to all views, exploring individual differences and accommodating others. Where this is not possible, individual disagreement will be noted.
