New training to unlock employment opportunities

The NACOSA Training Institute is thrilled to be able to offer a number of new accredited learning programmes (full qualifications) this year. The new offerings are aimed at providing people with the skills to get employment in the health and services industries.

“With the official unemployment at over 29%, it is critical to build the kinds of skills that are really needed in the country,” says Training Institute Manager Annelie Terblanche. “The NACOSA Training Institute has worked hard to create new training offerings that respond to these needs.”

Health Promotion Officer

The Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) has accredited the Training Institute to provide an Occupational Certificate: Health Promotion Officer (SAQA ID 94597, NQF Level 3). Learners who complete this qualification will be able to:

• Conduct assessments of the social, physical and economic dynamics in communities
• Conduct household assessments and identify those at risk of health related issues
• Provide information, education and support for healthy behaviours and appropriate home care
• Provide psychosocial support
• Identify and manage minor health problems

Administration & General Management

The Services Seta has accredited the Training Institute to provide two Learning Programmes as part of the overall Generic Management qualification (SAQA 57712, NQF Level 4). Learners who complete the Administration Learning Programme (ID 58344) and General Management Learning Programme (ID 74630) will be able to:

• Develop plans to achieve defined objectives
• Organise resources in accordance with developed plans
• Lead a team to work co-operatively to achieve
• Monitor performance to ensure compliance to a developed plan
• Make decisions based on a code of ethics

Contact Centre & Business Process Outsourcing (BPO)

As part of the overall qualification SAQA 93997, the Contact Centre and BPO Learning Programme (ID 80566, NQF Level 3), also accredited by the Services Seta, will enable successful learners to:

• Provide effective customer service in a contact centre and/or Business Process Outsourcing industry
• Use communication technology in a contact centre
• Capture data to track interactions
• Work effectively as a team member in a group

“We see these new offerings as making a contribution to Contributing to the National Development Plan, the Sustainable Development Goals, the Youth Employment Scheme and the National Strategic plan on HIV, STIs and TB,” says Annelie.
